An Idea Brought to Life

An Idea Brought to Life

Recently, we've wanted to surround ourselves with simple things with a timeless look, and that felt familiar and useful. We also wanted to explore new ways of crafting objects in our workshop that were a bit more sculptural and immediate. So, we decided our first exploration in this new direction would be a spoon (no surprise, there). We kept drawing spoon silhouettes until we got the perfect curves of the handle and relationship to the bowl - which is surprisingly complicated. Of course the process really shifts once you start working with the metal, and there were many subtle aesthetic decisions to be made along the way in order to create something equally incorporating usefulness and an elegant shape.

The resulting scoop measures a tablespoon and can be used for measuring coffee or tea or for making morning smoothies. It's satiny smooth, perfectly proportioned and feels great in your hand. We've added some special details like an antique bronze leather cord for hanging, and beautiful handwritten lettering on the back. We hope you love it as much as we do!

It was lovingly handmade, inventive, and said more to me about love that any other typical Valentine's gift ever could. It remains probably the most special present I've ever received, and a few years later, it inspired us to start a company making meaningful, functional household objects that were made with love and care too.
