September is Baby Month!

September is Baby Month!

September is a big month for new babies - in fact it's the most common birthday month! We've been busy all month engraving baby cups and spoons, so we didn't really need to look it up, but it's an established fact. Our pewter baby gifts are handmade right here in Rhode Island, designed for those one-of-a-kind babies and kids ( and grand kids). With our unique personalized designs you can give a gift that's perfect just for them, creating a keepsake that they'll always treasure.

Also, be sure to shop our selection of handmade wood blocks for a gift that's colorful, smart, and made in the USA.

Sailors Valentine - our new jewlry brand!

Sailors Valentine - our new jewlry brand!

As many of you know, Jim & Sandra were a couple of jewelers who started Beehive Handmade to fulfill the need for thoughtful and beautiful everyday household objects. But, during the quiet,  near-to-home days of the recent pandemic, Sandra looked to her Rhode Island home for new, creative inspiration.

As she found inspiration in the stories of the past and the lovely coastline, cities, and towns nearby she began to dream up a jewelry collection. One that would capture the natural beauty and seafaring traditions she held so dear about the New England Coast.

Sailors Valentine is a collection of recycled brass jewelry inspired by the history and landscape of coastal New England. From the rugged texture of an old anchor chain to the discovery of a tiny shell, each piece of jewelry is lovingly inspired by elements of the sea and the history of our coastal home.

Made *mostly* in the USA

Made *mostly* in the USA

Hello, Everyone. We know these tariff changes are creating a lot of worry, and we wanted to say we're feeling it too, and share some insight into making products domestically. While we're fortunate to make our metal gift-ware here in the USA, we totally get that's not the reality for many, and we deeply respect the global nature of our creative community. Even though our production is based in the USA, we appreciate how interconnected we all are in this industry.

Making things in the US is not isolated from local and global challenges, and we've been forced to source the things we need from beyond our borders. For example, when our US based mold-making supplier closed up shop after 75 years, we had to start getting the material from Canada. Our knife blades come all the way from England now, since there aren't any US suppliers anymore. Even though we're super committed to keeping things as local as possible, the truth is, the tools and materials we use come from all over the globe. Over the years we've seen so many of our local vendors and manufacturing partners close, and we've made many changes along the way to weather the shifting tides. We know many of you have shopped with us for years for meaningful gifts for the people you love, and we'll do our absolute best to keep prices stable, so you have one less thing to think about.
