New! Tea Utensils

New! Tea Utensils

Earlier this spring, Jim and I began a product development brainstorming session by turning to each other, and both saying " we need to make something for tea!"

In many ways tea is the designated cheerer-upper beverage, and we wanted to design useful pieces that reflected how taking a tea break brings people together, creates a sense of calm, and the cozy feeling that comes from holding a warm mug of tea. Truly, sometimes what you need is just a cup of good tea. We designed this collection to be equally cozy and cool, thanks to the playful mix of typography and hand drawn floral motifs. A special thank you to our friend and designer Anna Beckman who helped us with the type and drawings!

We hope your next cuppa is even more cheery and cozy! The tea infuser, teabag rest, and tea scoop are all sold individually or as a set. Handmade in our Rhode Island studio, of course.

Inspired by our Garden.

Inspired by our Garden.

It's been said that to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow. The hope and anticipation of gardening is to us, just one of its joys. When we first planted a garden during the early days of the pandemic we thought only about growing our own food, but it's become a place of peace and happiness, as well as where we get the best tomatoes around.

We were inspired to bring the simplicity and charm of garden flowers to the designs of our new ring dishes, which are also inspired by the traditional block prints from India we've always loved. Mixing up patterns to create a set is so charming and fun; we've designed several styles like a petite scalloped ring dish perfect for stud earrings, to a larger dish featuring an abstract design based on a sweet alyssum flower to choose from. We hope they bring a bit of the essence of summer into your home all year round.

Our 25th Year!

Our 25th Year!

This is a big year for us, as we mark the start of the 25th year of Beehive. Way back when, shortly after we got married, we had the idea to create a collection of functional metalwork that would be not only practical, but decorative and fun. We wanted to make special, useful things that would add a little joy to everyday life.

It's funny to think about how little we knew about manufacturing or running a businesses -(oh,  if those spoons could talk!), but we received so much encouragement from our customers and all the creative people we met along the way. People believed in us and that made it easier to believe in ourselves.

If you're not already familiar, you can read more about our story on our website.

*Shown above are our original products which are still in production. And photos of us when we were just kids.*
