The Heart Spatula Story

As many of you may know, Beehive is a husband-and-wife family company. It all started (although we didn't know it at the time) one Valentine's Day before we were married. Jim made me (Sandi) a heart shaped spatula he cut out of sheet steel with a welded handle he carved to look like an arrow. I couldn't believe that such an incredible gift could even exist. It was lovingly handmade, inventive, and said more to me about love that any other typical Valentine's gift ever could. It remains probably the most special present I've ever received, and a few years later, it inspired us to start a company making meaningful, functional household objects that were made with love and care too.
A Fresh Start

After a bit of time off after the Holidays we're back in the studio, and our first order of business: clean this place up! We're organizing and scrubbing, and taking stock of what can be improved and replaced. It's always a work in progress, but little things like some new soldering pads make a big difference. Next up - inventory systems!
2022 Holiday Ornaments
Oct 25, 2022Our newest holiday ornaments are inspired by two essential elements of nature - mushrooms and honeybees. Mushrooms are humble and earthy, but we've given ours a touch of holiday magic in shiny, satiny pewter. They're a perfect holiday gift for foragers, gourmands, and outdoorsy types.
Inspired by our namesake, the hardworking honey-bee, our bee ornament is a thoughtful gift for gardeners, bee-keepers, as well as all your industrious, hardworking friends. Kinda can't believe it took us this long to make a Bee ornament!
Each ornament began as an original hand fabricated out of copper and brass sheet stock. The finished pieces are cast in our Rhode Island studio from fine pewter.
